Introduction
IRQLinux is the very first Iraqi Operating System based on GNU/Linux (Ubuntu) and it is made by Iraqi people for all Iraqi users and whoever would like to use it. IRQLinux is 100% free and also has 100% free support. You need to pay absolutely nothing.

IRQLinux has been started as a project in 6th of July, 2011. However, the real work didn't start until March, 2014 but recruiting a team and the technical work has actually started in July, 2014.

IRQLinux is the first project for: Iraqi Computer Science Foundation, which is part of a much bigger foundation (X Foundation).





Minimum System Requirements:

  • Intel Pentium 4 (or equivalent).
  • 512MB RAM (Recommended: 1GB).
  • 6GB HDD.
  • Either a CD/DVD drive or a USB port for the installer media.
  • Internet access is helpful (for installing updates during the installation process). It is optional not a must have during the installation process. 

Technical Information:
  • Based on Ubuntu Mini 14.04 LTS.
  • IRQLinux will always be LTS.
  • 12-months release cycle. We shall not follow Ubuntu's release cycle (6-months).
  • XFCE4 will be used as the default DE.

System Features:
  • IRQLinux is for Old and New Machines. If you have an old hardware, please do not get rid of that. IRQLinux can breathe new life into your old machine.
  • Has both 32-bit version and 64-bit version.
  • High quality power management to give you more battery life when there is no electricity.
  • Very user-friendly and does not require to use any CLI unless desired by the user.
  • It works out-of-the box. Has all the basic needed applications by default.
  • Very easy to learn and use even if you are new to GNU/Linux.
  • It is a Community based system so you have all the needed support.
